This movement mainly trains abs.
The cable crunch loads rectus abdominis in trunk flexion with adjustable resistance — something no floor crunch offers. The obliques join in as soon as the movement stops being strictly sagittal.
Ten to twenty reps. The movement is spinal flexion vertebra by vertebra, not a hinge from the hips: the back rounds, the pelvis does not travel back.
Pulling the rope with the arms and lats. The stack goes up, the abs see nothing, and it becomes a badly executed pulldown.
