Video. Form check films your set and follows the bar path, through your wrists, on the device itself. The video is never uploaded and never kept: it stays on the phone for the analysis. On iPhone it is deleted as soon as the analysis finishes; if you picked it from your photo library, the original stays there and it is the analysed copy that is deleted. On Android, the last video filmed stays in the app's private storage until the next one replaces it. When you film, the camera also records sound: it is part of the video and, like the video, stays on the phone. No image or sound passes through our servers or anyone else's.
If you allow it, REPWIND reads three values from Apple Health (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android): sleep duration, resting heart rate and heart-rate variability. It only reads them and writes nothing to Apple Health or Health Connect. They are folded on the device into a recovery score from 0 to 100.
Where they are stored. Each day's readings and the score are written to your journal, which keeps the last sixty days of them. If you are signed in to an account, that journal, readings included, is backed up to Firebase Firestore (Google) so you find it again on another device, until you delete the account. Without an account it stays on your phone.
What goes to Google Gemini. Never the readings themselves: at most the score or, in the debrief, its gap with the three weeks before, in the cases set out below (The AI coach). On iPhone the Recovery (Apple Health) switch starts off: until you turn it on, neither the score nor its gap is sent.
If you would rather REPWIND did not read them: on iPhone, do not allow Apple Health access (the app only asks when you tap the Apple Health tile), or remove it at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Health › REPWIND; on Android, do not connect Health Connect. The recovery score then stays empty rather than being invented, and no new reading is read, stored or transmitted. Readings already stored are erased with the account.
Email address (account); your name, if Apple or Google passes it on at sign-in — Firebase Authentication keeps it with your account and REPWIND does not use it; your sessions and programs (exercises, sets, loads, reps); the sleep, resting heart rate and heart-rate variability readings and the recovery score drawn from them, the last sixty days, in the journal and its backup; your training profile (goal, equipment, sex, age, bodyweight, experience, days per week, declared physical limitations); an account identifier; your consent to Google Gemini and your Connectivity sharing choices, so every device honours them; the questions you ask the AI coach, which are sent to Google Gemini to produce the answer, are not kept by REPWIND, and are logged by Google for a limited time only to detect abuse. Your subscription state is read on the device from Apple or Google and is not stored on our servers. Everything else is kept until you delete the account.
We do not collect your location, your contacts or your photos. The app contains no analytics or crash-reporting tool. The Firebase libraries send Google non-identifying technical information (device model, system and app version) for its platform statistics; if you sign in with Google, Google also processes your IP address during sign-in, to prevent fraud. Apple and Google may pass anonymous crash reports on to us if you have agreed to share them with developers, under their own rules.
Each use of your data rests on one of these two GDPR grounds:
Voice logging — "eighty two five for six" — uses the Android or iOS speech recogniser, not ours. We ask it to work offline, but that is a preference: on a phone with no model installed, the system may transcribe on its own servers, under its own rules. We receive only the recognised text, never the audio, and keep only the load and the reps from it; the dictation is neither recorded nor kept. The microphone turns on when you tap the dictation button, for as long as it takes to recognise the phrase.
The microphone is also used when you film a set for form check: the camera records sound with the video. We neither receive nor listen to that sound; it stays on the phone, inside the video, and goes with it.
The steps, and what is erased or kept, are set out on the deletion page. Invoices tied to subscriptions are kept for ten years, as accounting law requires, independently of account deletion.
REPWIND carries no ad network, does not use the IDFA, sells nothing to data brokers and builds no cross-app profile. Your data is never sold.
Who. The coach's replies, the weekly debrief and the Adapt Engine sentence that suggests today's loads are written by Google Gemini, an artificial intelligence service from Google, reached through Firebase AI Logic. These features are part of the Premium subscription: without it, nothing is sent to Gemini.
What goes. Depending on the feature: the question you ask the coach; today's plan (exercises, sets, reps, loads); a numeric summary of your sessions (sets, top set, volume per muscle, push-pull balance) if training history is shared; your recovery score, from 0 to 100, or, in the debrief, its gap with the three weeks before, if recovery is shared. Numbers and text: never video or photos, never your sleep, heart-rate or heart-rate-variability readings, nor your name, your email or your profile (age, sex, weight). The request goes through Firebase, which authenticates it with your session identifier: it is tied to your account, not anonymous.
On iPhone, your consent first. Nothing is sent before you give it. The first question you ask the coach opens a sheet that names Google Gemini via Firebase and lists what will be sent: Allow sends the question, Not now sends nothing. The debrief and the Adapt Engine sentence wait for that consent too. You withdraw it at any time in Profile › Connectivity, card What the coach can see, with the AI coaching switch: once it is off, nothing more is sent. In the same card, Training history (on by default) and Recovery (Apple Health) (off by default) decide what Gemini receives. With history off, the coach no longer sees your past sessions and the debrief is not written. With recovery off, the score goes in none of the requests, and the Adapt Engine sentence stays the one the app works out on the phone.
On Android. The Android app does not ask for this consent yet: with the Premium subscription, requests are sent as soon as you use these features. Its Training history and Watch recovery switches on the Connectivity screen start on. Turning recovery off removes the score from coach questions and from the Adapt Engine sentence, but the weekly debrief still carries the gap, in points, between your recent recovery score and the one of the three weeks before. To stop the debrief being sent at all, turn Training history off.
At Google. REPWIND uses the Gemini API on its paid tier. Google does not use the requests or the answers to improve its products: it processes them on our behalf under its data processing terms, and logs them only for a limited time, to detect abuse and meet its legal obligations.
Google Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Storage, App Check) for your account, journal backup and the exercise library, covering your email, your name if provided, identifier, sessions, training profile, recovery readings and score, AI consent and sharing choices; Google Gemini via Firebase AI Logic for coach replies, debriefs and the Adapt Engine sentence that suggests today's loads, covering the question asked, today's plan, the numeric session summary and the recovery score or, in the debrief, its gap with the three weeks before; Apple and Google for subscriptions. Account and journal data are hosted in the European Union. Requests sent to Gemini may be processed or cached outside the EU, under Google's contractual safeguards.
Guest mode creates an anonymous session so the app can read its exercise library. It carries neither your name nor your email, and your journal stays on your phone. If you subscribe without an account, the AI features send Gemini the same data as with one, under the same consent rules.
Signing out of an account does not erase its journal from the phone: it stays there, and the app carries on with it if you continue without an account. To remove it from the phone, delete the account or uninstall the app.
You may access, correct, export or delete your data at any time. Account deletion is available in the app under Profile, with Delete account and data, and erases the account, the journal held on our servers and its copy on the phone. CSV export is available from the Connectivity screen.
