This movement mainly trains glutes, and also recruits Hamstrings, Spinal erectors, adductors.
The press loads the same chain as the squat without asking the trunk to hold a bar. Foot placement sets the split: high on the platform, the hip takes it; low, the knee does.
Ten to twenty reps. This is where you can pile up volume without the erectors becoming the limit — useful on days the lower back has already given what it had.
Going down until the pelvis lifts off the back pad. At that point the lower back rounds against the machine, with nothing left to protect it.
