This movement mainly trains calves, and also recruits Hamstrings.
With the knee bent, gastrocnemius is slackened and soleus is left to work alone. It is the deep calf muscle, the one carrying most of the mass, and the standing version loads it poorly.
Fifteen to twenty-five reps. Soleus is an endurance muscle: it responds to longer sets than most other groups.
Treating this as a duplicate of the standing version. The two do not load the same muscle, and dropping the seated one means never training soleus directly.
